Confetti

This is the first cake i ever made using fondant. It was a rainy summer day and I wanted to try something new with my baking!
I had so much fun working with the fondant that the first thing i did when i woke up was headed straight for the kitchen to add on to the cake. I thought it ended up looking a lot better the second day!

  1. I think it looks great! I would probably prefer some more "popping" colors ... now it looks more kinda like "tone-in-tone" ... But that is just a matter of preference! :-)

Oh, and just a question - did you put the frosting right under the fondant? Did that work out alright? Is that marshmallow fondant or "regular" one?

  2. thanks for the feed back! i definitely know what you mean.
For this cake because it was my first time working with fondant I wasn't really sure how to do it and i put it directly over the frosting. Now, I will usually have two layers of cake with a filling/frosting in between, and i will dirty ice the outside of the layers. to dirty ice you just use a thin layer of butter cream to even out the cake, and usually you would put it in the fridge for a little while, and then apply the fondant over it. Ive found that technique works a lot better!

This cake has marshmallow fondant, i always use marshmallow even though its just one more thing to do, then using the pre-made, i find it to taste a lot better and not be so heavy..
